The Purge is an annual event in the fictitious universe based on the real world where all crime becomes legal for a single evening. It was intended to allow civilians to relieve their stresses and grievances, with the expectation that crime would be reduced for the rest of the year.

While this predictably resulted in national disaster, there are many anime characters who would relish in the carnage and bloodshed that the Purge might enable.
10 Mad Pierrot Would Capitalize On The Absence Of Police To Wreak Havoc (Cowboy Bebop)
Mad Pierrot was a man who had been broken through the application of extensive scientific experiments. Ever since the villain’s escape, his sole purpose was to eradicate those unfortunate enough to cross his path. His augmented physiology allowed him to contend with Spike Spiegel despite the hero’s vastly superior combat skills.
In an environment like the Purge, he would finally be able to attack his victims in the light of day without worrying about retribution from the authorities.
9 Doflamingo Turned His Own Country Into A Lawless Battlefield Much Like The Purge (One Piece)
Doflamingo was responsible for usurping and leading Dressrosa. After Usopp managed to undo Sugar’s devil fruit and release the transformed toy slaves back to their original forms, he trapped the nation’s denizens in a massive birdcage and announced the country’s descent into anarchy.
In order to cause as much strife as possible, he even used his strings to forcibly turn civilians against each other. Considering his affinity for chaos and desire to destroy the world, he would thrive under circumstances like the Purge.
8 Sergeant Gross Would Enjoy The Purge So Long As He Wasn’t Directly Involved (Attack On Titan)
Sergeant Gross was a Marleyan officer who had a fascination with death. This was why he enjoyed turning Eldians into pure titans and having them eat each other, rather than simply executing them immediately.
Given Gross’ macabre disposition, he would love watching the Purge from within the safety of a bunker. As long as the dangers outside posed no threat to him, he would find the spectacle as a meaningful way to keep death in mind without letting it come too close for his liking.
7 Hisoka Would Use The Purge As An Excuse To Test His Strength (Hunter X Hunter)
Hisoka was obsessed with challenging himself and tormenting others. He infiltrated the Phantom Troupe solely for the struggle of finding and confronting its leader, Chrollo.

Should global laws be suspended, he would capitalize on the opportunity by identifying powerful targets and attacking them without their consent. Even if no one were capable of challenging his strength, he may be inclined to kill a few innocent people in order to slake his bloodlust and wanton sense of depravity.
6 Orochimaru Adores Chaos & Anarchy (Naruto)
Although Orochimaru was a sworn enemy of the Leaf, he didn’t attack it out of a sense of revenge or even self-preservation. Instead, he was enthralled by the winds of change and used chaos as a vehicle to achieve those ends.
Nothing elated him more than the carnage that the Sound and Sand villages unleashed on the Leaf during their invasion. Similarly, he would thrive in an environment like the Purge, using it to experiment with his latest jutsu and acquire test subjects for future endeavors.
5 The Major’s Only Goal Was To Destabilize The World & Wrack Up A High Body Count (Hellsing)
When creating the Millennium Organization, the Major had a single goal in mind – to avenge the Third Reich and cause as much death as possible. He spent decades gathering and enhancing his forces toward those ends and even synergized his attack with the Iscariot organization’s.
He displayed no sense of self-preservation when being confronted by Integra Hellsing, citing that the lives he had already taken were consolation enough for his own death. In a situation like the Purge where national governments wouldn’t resist him, the Major would be unstoppable.
4 Shigaraki Would Use The Purge To Change Society (My Hero Academia)
Shigaraki was the leader of the League of Villains and a young man who detested hero society. He caused as much wanton violence as he could realistically get away with, relying on Kurogiri’s Warp Gate to make quick escapes.

In a Purge situation, he would attack as many innocent civilians as possible in order to prove that the heroes couldn’t protect them. Once the dust had settled, Japan would never be able to look at the pros they had once trusted with confidence again.
3 Nui Harime Delighted In Making People’s Lives Miserable (Kill La Kill)
Nui Harime displayed a keen delight in making the lives of others as abysmal as possible. Moments after crossing paths with Ryuko for the first time, she told Ryuko about how she enjoyed killing her father.
She was equally interested in tormenting Lady Satsuki after her betrayal of Ragyo. In a Purge situation, she would likely attempt to pick off a random person’s family members slowly, giddily relishing their despairing reactions and powerlessness to stop her.
2 As The Devil Himself, Ryo Sought To Maximize Suffering & Lawlessness
Ryo was also known as Satan in the Devilman Crybaby universe and a villain responsible for destroying the world. Instead of flattening it with his tremendous strength immediately, he allowed for a pernicious decline in order to savor the anguished reactions of the humans he intended to kill.
By the time his identity was uncovered, it was too late to stop him. Akira was dead, and Earth itself was irrevocably cracked. Ryo would only realize the consequences of his Purge after it was already over and too late to reverse it.
1 Esdeath Would Use The Purge As An Opportunity To Cull The Weak (Akame Ga Kill!)
General Esdeath abhorred weakness and made a specific note to eradicate it wherever it was found. She massacred those who resisted the Empire by the hundreds and even continued to fight after her leader’s defeat due to how she reveled in combat.
The Purge would enable her to enforce her Darwinist philosophy on a helpless population, creating huge columns of ice and even freezing time itself to massacre as many as she could. Only Tatsumi would be able to minimize casualties by distracting her with his affection.
