Oscar De La Hoya is out of the hospital after spending three days getting medical care in his battle with COVID-19, he said in a video posted Wednesday on Twitter.
“COVID hit me really hard,” De La Hoya said. “I was in the best shape of my life, and I really can’t wait to get back in the ring.”
The 48-year-old announced Friday that he had tested positive for COVID-19, derailing a fight with former UFC champion Vitor Belfort scheduled for Saturday. He said he is fully vaccinated.
De La Hoya retired in 2009 and last fought in December 2008, a loss to Manny Pacquiao.
Belfort will instead face longtime heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield.
