BLM-aligned coalition demands launch of convicted cop killers

A coalition of left-wing racial justice teams that consists of the Black Lives Issue national organization has launched an initiative contacting for the abolition of the U.S. prison system and the release of all prisoners, including multiple convicted cop killers. 

The Motion for Black Lives, a coalition of additional than 50 teams, which includes the Black Lives Make any difference Global Network Basis, issued a blog submit Thursday commemorating Black August, a controversial prison-centered vacation started in the 1960s by the Black Guerrilla Family.

“This week, in partnership with our comrades at [Malcolm X Grassroots Movement], we’re highlighting five present Black political prisoners to increase recognition and help for these warriors,” the post states. “We’re calling on you to signal petitions, publish letters, donate, and spread the word, as we advocate for the launch of all prisoners and the abolition of the jail industrial advanced.”

The checklist of prisoners involves Mumia Abu-Jamal, a previous member of the Black Panthers who was convicted of fatally taking pictures a Philadelphia police officer in 1981 Kamau Sadiki, a former Black Liberation Army member serving a life sentence for the 1971 killing of an Atlanta police officer Mutulu Shakur, a previous Black Liberation Army chief who served have out the 1981 Brinks theft that killed two law enforcement officers in New York and Ed Poindexter, a former Black Panther who was convicted along with the late David Rice in the 1970 bombing death of an Omaha police officer.

The checklist also includes Imam Jamil Al Amin, aka H. Rap Brown, a Black Panther-turned-Muslim cleric who was convicted of murdering a Ga sheriff’s deputy and wounding one more in 2000.

On its internet site, the Motion for Black Life states the team opposes the capitalist method in the United States and that they feel “prisons, law enforcement and all other institutions that inflict violence on Black people today have to be abolished and replaced by establishments that worth and affirm the flourishing of Black lives.”

The Movement for Black Life has been touted by progressive Democrats like Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.

“The fight to #DefundThePolice would not only come about in the streets. It’s also going to consider spot in city halls.
